Listening Hearts: Manual for Discussion Leaders

From the back cover:

"Like Listening Hearts itself, the Manual for Discussion Leaders bears the marks of simplicity, orderliness, and helpfulness."

- John McIntyre

The conversation initiated by the Christian Vocation Project in Listening Hearts continues in a slender manual designed to guide leaders in order to amplify its utility. The care and attentiveness that are so apparent in the writing of Listening Hearts are equally evident here. Led by Farnham, nine people associated with the discernment program worked in community to write the manual.

. . . The parts of a discussion group are described in a form that is helpful for the leader of any small group who would like to learn what works and what does not. The section titled "Suggested Questions" is especially piquant in lending a helpful hand in bringing the topics of call and discernment of one's spiritual gifts into a person's own realm of experience. For example, a question suggested for use in Discussing "call to Ministry" is, "What is the difference between doing good and following a call to ministry?" Another provocative query: "Can humility be gained by seeking it directly?"

Rich, resonant and coherent, this slim volume holds riches well worth mining."
